Congress seeks to crack down on Pentagon use of LPTA

The controversial lowest-priced, technically acceptable contracting approach is set to receive more scrutiny if policy bills moving through Congress are approved. The Senate version of the defense authorization bill, approved by the Senate Armed Services Committee and heading to the floor next week, mandates that the Pentagon avoid using LPTA "in inappropriate circumstances that potentially deny the Department the benefits of cost and technical tradeoffs in the source selection process."
