McCain and Senate panel turn to McChrystal for Pentagon management advice

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain (R-AZ) sought to defend his effort to alter the Pentagon's management structure to include more "cross-functional teams" during a Tuesday hearing with a panel of management experts, including retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal. At issue is a controversial provision in the Senate version of the fiscal year 2017 defense authorization bill that would require the defense secretary to create six joint task forces, or "cross-functional teams," to address the Pentagon's highest priorities.
