Pentagon falls short of competition goals in most recent quarter

The Pentagon competed fewer than half of all contracts awarded in the third quarter of fiscal year 2016, well below its goal of 57 percent, according to a new memo from the director of defense procurement and acquisition policy. The document , dated Aug. 11 and signed by Claire Grady, says competition "remains a recurring agenda item" for the business senior integration group. An attached spreadsheet shows that the Pentagon competed 49.7 percent of the quarter's 8.6 million contract actions...
