DOD IG report on CIWS purchases

The Dec. 19, 2014, Defense Department inspector general's report, released in redacted form on May 2, 2016, finds that "Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) contracting officers did not adequately manage the performance-based logistics contracts with Raytheon to make cost-effective purchases for the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System."
