Air Force Staff Memo On Senior Leadership Shakeup

In a Sept. 9, 2010, Air Force staff memo, the service announces the retirement of Gen. Carrol Chandler as vice chief of staff and the nomination of Lt. Gen. Philip Breedlove to replace Chandler. It also announces the appointments of Lt. Gen. William Shelton to become head of Air Force Space Command; Lt. Gen. Herbert Carlisle to become deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and requirements; Maj. Gen. Stanley Kresge to Thirteenth Air Force, Pacific Air Forces commander; and Lt. Gen. Richard Newton to become assistant vice chief of staff and director of the Air Staff.
