Work envisions 'gradual' adoption of AI in Air Force Third Offset efforts

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD -- The Pentagon's No. 2 civilian suggested it is too soon to speculate about the doctrinal and force-structure implications of the Third Offset Strategy for the Air Force, noting the service will likely spend years experimenting with artificial intelligence capabilities before determining how to package new operational concepts and technology into revolutionary advances.

AFMC commander expects modest Third Offset funding increase in FY-18

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD -- The head of Air Force Materiel Command said this week it is unclear when funding for Third Offset technology will ramp up in the service's budget request, but she noted that it is important that the service develop the necessary expertise before it invests the money needed to transition new concepts into actual technologies.
