Raytheon announced today it would build the Air Force's next-generation trainer in Meridian, MS, if selected by the service.
The company has said it is partnering with Leonardo-Finmeccanica, CAE and Honeywell on its proposal, known as the T-100.
Raytheon called the site "shovel-ready" and said it would establish "a final assembly and check-out facility" if chosen by the Air Force to build the T-X.
A Boeing-Saab team, a Lockheed Martin-Korea Aerospace Industries team and a Northrop Grumman-BAE Systems team have also confirmed they plan to compete for the program.
