5th Fleet Commander Picked for Joint Staff Director

Vice Adm. Timothy Keating has been selected to succeed Army Lt. Gen. George Casey as director of the Joint Staff, the Pentagon announced today. Keating is the commander of the Navy's 5th Fleet and U.S. Naval Forces, U.S. Central Command, the Pentagon said in a statement. The Senate must confirm Keating before he can succeed Casey, who became director in January. Casey's next job has not been announced, according to his office.
