Abizaid Says Troops Facing 'Guerrilla-Type Campaign' in Iraq

The commander of U.S. forces in Iraq said today those forces are facing "a classic guerrilla-type campaign," adding that mid-level members of the deposed Baathist Party are responsible for the attacks. Army Gen. John Abizaid's description of the attacks against U.S. forces is a departure from those of other Defense Department officials, particularly Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who have not used the term guerrilla warfare.
