Pentagon acquisition executive Pete Aldridge said today he needs more time to decide if the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft can be made safe enough for use by the U.S. military. Aldridge received a briefing on the Osprey, including a NASA review of the program, on Aug. 14. Aldridge declined to say whether he is confident the V-22 can be made safe for operational use.
