Afghan Air Force to receive six more A-29s

Sierra Nevada Corp. and Embraer Defense and Security announced Wednesday they will build six more A-29 Super Tucanos for Afghanistan's fledgling Air Force, bringing the fleet to a total of 26 jets. "We believe this decision demonstrates that the A-29 Super Tucano is the best aircraft for close-air support operations, as well as the most proven, reliable and cost-effective solution for counterinsurgency and irregular warfare scenarios," Embraer President and Chief Executive Officer Jackson Schneider said in an Oct. 25 statement...
