Air Force aims to cut between two and five years off B-52 re-engine time line

The Air Force thinks it can cut between two and five years off the time line to re-engine the B-52 by using digital and virtual prototyping technology. Air Force spokeswoman Capt. Hope Cronin confirmed Sept. 27 that service acquisition executive Will Roper has approved an acquisition strategy for the program, which could include as many as 650 engines across the B-52 fleet.
