Air Force: Boeing T-X deal offers flexibility to buy more jets at a faster pace

The Air Force announced a contract with Boeing this week that includes options to buy up to 475 new trainers -- 124 more than the current requirement -- in a deal the service says will provide flexibility to buy jets at a faster pace and potentially higher quantities. Although the $9.2 billion contract includes more aircraft than the service currently says it needs, the contract value is more than $10 billion below the program's original $19.7 billion service cost position...
