Air Force: Deferring Some Aircraft Will Lower F-22 Costs

LINTHICUM, MD -- Senior Air Force officials today announced a new plan to "incentivize" F-22 contractors with nearly $500 million in available funds from the service that can be used to pay for new contractor initiatives to reduce Raptor production costs. But some near-term F-22 purchases are being deferred to pay for the plan, freeing up $215 million by buying aircraft later in the program's production run.
