Air Force To Deliver Weather Sat Buy Plan By End Of Year

The Air Force has just begun to develop its acquisition strategy for its new weather satellite program and expects to have a plan in place by year's end. The service requested $35 million in its fiscal year 2015 budget to kick-start development of the Weather Satellite Follow-on (WSF) -- a one-satellite constellation that will replace capabilities now provided by the service's Defense Meteorological Satellite Program as well as the Naval Research Laboratory's WindSat technology demonstrator.
