Air Force wants $3.1B to fund prototyping, experimentation over FYDP

The Air Force expects a ramp-up in experimentation and prototyping activities over the next year, a change of pace reflected in a $500 million funding increase in its fiscal year 2018 budget request. The service is asking for $840 million for technology transition in FY-18 and $3.1 billion across the future years defense plan. The funding line includes both experimentation and prototyping efforts, and in FY-18, the bulk of that money -- about $745 million -- will fund prototyping work...
