Aldridge: Acquisition of Services Should be Taken as 'Seriously' as Hardware Purchases

The Pentagon has announced a new policy mandating that the acquisition of services be treated as "seriously" as the acquisition of hardware. In a May 31 memo accompanying the new policy, Pete Aldridge, the under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, notes that the fiscal year 2002 Defense Authorization Act establishes a "series of requirements impacting the acquisition of services in the Department of Defense.
