Analysis of COCOM Needs Could Yield Report Next Month

Defense Department analysts could finish an initial report early next month summarizing trends among the worldwide combatant commanders' latest warfighting requirements, according to defense sources. Efforts to craft such a document are part of this year's so-called "comprehensive joint assessment," managed by the Joint Staff. This year's CJA drill began in earnest in late September when the combatant command staffs submitted their lists of resource priorities, concept-development and experimentation plans and general security assessments of their respective geographic areas.
