Appropriators cut Air Force hypersonic budget by $70 million less than requested for FY-22

Congress cut tens of millions of dollars from one of the Air Force's highest-profile hypersonic efforts in the fiscal year 2022 omnibus appropriations bill amid recent "failures and delays" of the program. Compared to what the Air Force requested, the appropriations bill -- passed last week and awaiting the president's signature -- cuts about $70 million from hypersonic prototyping.
