Army grounds entire Chinook fleet after fuel leaks cause fires in some aircraft

The Army has grounded its fleet of CH-47 Chinooks after it discovered fuel leaks that caused engine fires in multiple helicopters. Army spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said in a statement that the fuel leaks caused a “small number of engine fires among an isolated number of H-47 helicopters.” The issue has not caused any injuries or deaths, but the fleet will be temporarily grounded until the Army can fix the issue, Smith said.
