Army, Marine Corps Seek Earlier Production of Humvee Replacement

The Army and Marine Corps are pushing to accelerate the production of a humvee replacement by two years, to fiscal year 2010, in an aggressive bid to expedite the fielding of a new tactical vehicle fleet. Pentagon officials say the services' ability to meet that goal will depend on private-sector ingenuity as well as successful appeals to the Office of the Secretary of Defense for changes to current spending plans.
