Army Requests $884 Million For GCV As Part of $145 Billion Base Budget

The Army today asked Congress for a fiscal year 2012 base budget of $145 billion, plus $71 billion for war costs, seeking a significant plus-up for aviation programs and requesting $884 million to develop the Ground Combat Vehicle. The figure for the high-priority GCV program is roughly $1 billion below what Army leaders told Congress last fall they would request for FY-12, offering the first glimpse of a new funding profile the ground service put together ahead of initial development...
