Army seeks to cut end strength, procurement in FY-23 budget

The Army has proposed cutting end strength and procurement funding in fiscal year 2023 as increases to the personnel and operations budgets outstrip topline growth. The service asked for a total of $178 billion in its FY-23 request, released today, a nominal increase of slightly under 2% from the $175 billion that Congress appropriated for FY-22. End strength in the active-duty Army would fall by 12,000 soldiers under the FY-23 request from the FY-22 budget, to 473,000 soldiers. National Guard...
