Army SFAB's 'evolving mission' in Afghanistan under scrutiny

The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction is questioning the long-term impact of the Army's 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade on Afghan forces and whether the unit is accomplishing its train, advise and assist mission in the region. It is "unclear whether the SFAB is being repurposed from its original mission, which was to provide expanded advising to rank-and-file [Afghan National Defense and Security Forces] personnel that had not been given access to Coalition and U.S. advisors," the SIGAR said...
