Army, Sikorsky plan Black Hawk flight tests with DARPA AI co-piloting program

The Army and Sikorsky are planning flight tests next year using UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters retrofitted with an artificial intelligence co-piloting software, company officials told reporters yesterday. The AI co-piloting software, called the Aircrew Labor In-Cockpit Automation System (ALIAS), is being developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in an effort to provide an autonomous " teammate " to improve manned aviation.
