Army takes first step toward buying more Lakotas

The Army is preparing to augment its fleet of Lakota training helicopters, issuing a solicitation in advance of a possible sole-source procurement. In a sources-sought notice posted Jan. 4 on Federal Business Opportunities, the service outlines its plans to satisfy an "identified requirement" of up to 35 EC-145 aircraft. The document states that Airbus Helicopters owns the technical data package for the aircraft, and requires respondents to indicate how they would produce the required helicopters "without having this data available...
