Army Working to Add Protection Suites to Helicopters in Iraq

Acting Army Secretary Les Brownlee told a Senate committee today that an improved missile warning system for helicopters flying in Iraq -- two of which were shot down this month -- is being rushed to the field, but rewiring each aircraft takes about three weeks. Accordingly, Brownlee could not assure committee members that all helicopters deployed to Iraq will have the added protection by the end of the year.
