AUSA Wants Bush to 'Close the Gap' Between Military, Private-Sector Pay

The president of the Association of the U.S. Army wants Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the Bush administration to "close the gap" between military and private-sector pay. In a Jan. 17 letter to Rumsfeld, retired Gen. Gordon Sullivan writes that since Rumsfeld's first tour as defense secretary during the Ford administration, "a significant gap has formed between military pay and that of the private sector.
