BAE Systems Awarded $53 Million To Extend Bradley Production

The Army has awarded BAE Systems a $53 million contract to "pull forward" work on 70 Bradley Fighting Vehicles in an effort to insulate the combat vehicle industrial base from declines in defense spending. BAE's new contract, which comes amid a series of layoffs and facility reductions, will fund the conversion of 70 M3A3 Bradley Cavalry variants to the M2A3 Bradley configuration used by combat engineers, according to a Jan. 2 company statement.
