Ban on government purchases of Huawei products goes into effect today

Regulations banning the federal government from purchasing products from Huawei and other China-based tech companies take effect today, imposing sweeping requirements on widely available commercial items while also providing for some exceptions. The interim final rule was published by the Defense Department, the General Services Administration and NASA in the Federal Register today, adopting requirements spelled out by the Fiscal Year 2019 National Defense Authorization Act, and setting up a two-step process that will eventually extend the purchasing ban...
