BFGoodrich to Acquire Raytheon's Optical Systems Business

Raytheon will sell its optical systems business to BFGoodrich, both companies announced today. "Raytheon will use proceeds from the sale to reduce its debt," the company said in a statement. While the amount of the sale was not disclosed, the optical systems business had sales of $152 million in 1999. The unit supplies systems for use in the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft, Apache and SuperCobra attack helicopters, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory.
