The Air Force today awarded Boeing a $1 billion contract to improve the C-17 airlifter, the service's premier troop and equipment mover. The contract calls for the company to "provide for analysis, study, plan, design, development and qualifications/test and kit prototype of enhancements and improvements" to the aircraft.
