Bush: Army's Crusader Artillery System 'Too Heavy'

Texas Gov. George W. Bush last night suggested the Army's Crusader artillery system might not fit in his vision for the U.S. military. In a Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire, a top rival, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), pressed Bush, the front-runner for the GOP nomination, to reveal "any military programs" for which Bush would reduce spending if elected president. Crusader, until recently one of the Army's top two modernization priorities, was the only system Bush mentioned in his reply...
