Citing North Korea, USAF Reverses Decision to Reduce Alaska Radar Coverage

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- The Air Force has resumed full-capacity missile-warning coverage at a radar site in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska due to North Korea's recent ballistic missile threats, according to the chief of the Air Force's space mission. The Cobra Dane radar's capacity had been reduced so that it was operating at just one-quarter of its potential power, an effort to save approximately $5 million through the end of the fiscal year and mitigate the burden of sequestration...
