Cohen Defers Decision On QDR-Mandated Guard Cuts

Defense Secretary William Cohen has decided to defer the implementation of Army reserve component cuts mandated by the 1997 Quadrennial Defense Review, the Pentagon announced today. Cohen cited an ongoing review of Guard divisions and the service's development of a new vision for its future as among his reasons for putting off his decision.
