Defense Secretary William Cohen has sent Adm. Vernon Clark's name to the White House as his choice to be the Navy's next chief of naval operations, Pentagon spokesman Ken Bacon said today. Clark is currently U.S. Atlantic Fleet's commander-in-chief. If approved by President Bill Clinton, Clark would replace Adm. Jay Johnson, whose tour as CNO will end this summer.
