Commerce initiates Section 232 probe into titanium sponge imports

The Commerce Department on Monday initiated a Section 232 investigation into titanium sponge imports, the fifth national security-based trade probe initiated by the Trump administration. "Titanium sponge has uses in a wide range of defense applications, from helicopter blades and tank armor to fighter jet airframes and engines," Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a March 4 statement.
