With CVN-79 30 percent constructed, shipbuilder slightly lagging expected efficiencies

Though the second Ford-class aircraft carrier, the John F. Kennedy (CVN-79), is 30 percent constructed, the shipbuilder is falling just shy of anticipated production efficiencies, according to a selected acquisition report obtained by Inside Defense. Newport News Shipbuilding has reduced production hours by 17 percent on the Kennedy compared to those of the Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78).
