Some of the largest defense companies this week reported increases in profit during their most recent quarters. Northrop Grumman said July 26 both its sales and profit grew in its most recent quarter. The company reported sales of nearly $6.4 billion during the three-month period, up 6 percent from the same period a year earlier.
