DOD Announces $356 Million in Potential Sales to Taiwan

The Pentagon announced today that Taiwan has requested permission to purchase $356 million worth of electronic upgrades to its fleet of F-16 fighter aircraft. The larger potential sale ($234 million) would involve 39 sets of "Pathfinder/Sharpshooter" low-altitude targeting and navigation pods, equipment and support services, DOD said. "The recipient will use these pods on its F-16A/B aircraft to provide low altitude navigation and defensive capability," the statement reads.
