DOD Continues H-1 Program, Keeps Pressure on Contractor

The Defense Department will continue Bell Helicopter Textron's troubled H-1 helicopter program for the time being, but officials will review the program again this fall and consider potential alternatives, according to a memo signed late last week by Pentagon acquisition executive Kenneth Krieg. The H-1 program is supposed to provide both light utility (UH-1) and attack (AH-1) helicopters to the Marine Corps.
