Within 30 days, the Army is required to brief the Pentagon acquisition executive on its planning for the "integrated acquisition programs" that will replace the Future Combat Systems effort, according to a much-anticipated acquisition decision memorandum issued today. The June 23 document, signed by DOD acquisition chief Ashton Carter and obtained by Inside the Army , lays out in four pages the new approach to the FCS program.
