DOD Has Spent $3.6 Billion To Get Y2K Ready

Following an 18-month, $3.6 billion effort, the Defense Department is ready for the year 2000 date rollover with 99.9 percent of its mission-critical systems Y2K compliant, Deputy Defense Secretary John Hamre said today. Only two mission-critical systems out of 2,101 were still not Y2K compliant as of yesterday, Hamre said.
