DOD IG clears ex-DIU head of 'improper personnel practices,' closes probe

The Defense Department inspector general has cleared the former head of the Pentagon's Defense Innovation Unit and closed an ethics probe in the days after his departure from the small-budget outfit that aims to leverage commercial technologies for military use cases. The IG notified former Director Mike Brown in a Sept. 9 letter, obtained by Inside Defense , that officials "did not substantiate" allegations of "improper personnel practices."
