DOD Inspector General Recommends More Oversight Of F-35 Engine

The Defense Department's inspector general is calling for more oversight of the Joint Strike Fighter's F135 engine -- a recommendation that engine-maker Pratt & Whitney and the F-35 joint program office say would add time and cost to the program. The inspector general conducted an audit of the program's quality assurance system last November, identifying 61 "nonconformities," 33 of which it designated as major concerns attributed to Pratt.
