DOD, Interior Propose Legislation to Expand National Training Center

The Pentagon and the Interior Department have agreed on a proposal to expand the Army's National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, CA, the service announced yesterday. The proposal, which calls for 131,000 additional acres for training maneuvers, has angered environmentalists who fear for endangered animals in the sensitive Mojave Desert area surrounding Ft.
