DOD Lauds FDA Approval of Anthrax Vaccine Production

The Defense Department said today it is "pleased" with the Food and Drug Administration's decision to approve the BioPort Corporation's license to manufacture and distribute the anthrax vaccine. In a statement, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs William Winkenwerder said FDA's action "will result in an assured availability of vaccine, which meets high standards for safety and efficacy, to protect our troops against the very real threat of anthrax."
