DOD Looks to Muster Funds for Additional F-22 Aircraft this Summer

The Defense Department yesterday submitted to Congress a request to shift funds between procurement accounts in order to increase by a single aircraft the number of F-22 fighters it buys this fiscal year to 23, according to Pentagon officials. Tina Jonas, the Pentagon comptroller, delivered to lawmakers a request to move $120 million previously intended to purchase long-lead items required for future F-22s into accounts that would pay for an aircraft this summer.
