DOD reprograms $1B in Ukraine supplemental funds

The Defense Department is internally shifting nearly $1 billion in funding appropriated by Congress to aid Ukraine's defense against Russia and bolster the U.S. troop presence in Eastern Europe, according to the Pentagon comptroller's office. The funding in question was part of a $13.6 billion emergency supplemental appropriation Congress passed in March and is separate from the recent $40 billion in emergency aid to Ukraine that Congress appropriated last week.
