DOD Seeks $11.98 Billion For Science And Technology In FY-14 Budget

The Defense Department, in its upcoming budget request, will seek $11.98 billion for science and technology investments to counter anti-access and area-denial threats, demonstrate disruptive technologies and accelerate the development of an electromagnetic railgun for missile defense, according to draft internal documents. An S&T request of $11.98 billion would be 1 percent above the FY-13 request of $11.86 billion and 2.3 percent below the enacted level in FY-12 of $12.26 billion.
